In May 2016, a child fell into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati zoo. Zookeepers were afraid that Harambe the gorilla would harm the child, so

they shot and killed Harambe.

Most all of the pictures of Harambe used to report this event were taken by Jeff McCurry, a photographer who had known Harambe for many years.

Despite widespread coverage, Jeff saw little compensation for his work. By minting the most famous images, and then a series of NFTs of lesser

known images, Jeff has helped raise money for gorilla charities at a level that otherwise would not have been possible.
